[Complete] Scheduled Server Maintenance

posted on 07-08

[COMPLETE] The maintenance is complete as of 8:45 PM CET/11:45 AM PST. Anyone who did not receive Vote Cash during the maintenance will be reimbursed at a later date.

Hello Maplers,

We will be performing a scheduled maintenance on Thursday, July 9, 2015. It will last approximately 1-4 hours. We will be upgrading our server host from a 1 GB RAM VPS to 32 GB RAM Dedicated Server. Our setup will also be getting a makeover, which means there may be some new issues appearing following our upgrade. Please report them if you run into any and we will fix these over the coming days. This upgrade should increase our uptime significantly, while reducing latency and lag, which should hopefully provide you with a much better performing and stable gaming experience.

Time:
Thursday, July 9, 2015
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM CET
5:00 AM - 9:00 AM PST

What will be unavailable:

  • All MapleLegends game servers and channels
  • The MapleLegends website

Changes and Updates:

  • Server upgrade(s)
  • General maintenance and final testings

Thank you for your patience and continuous support. Without you guys, we would not have been able to make this upgrade.

Regarding Leeching/Deals

posted on 06-27

Hello Maplers,

After some minor miscommunication issues between some players today, please note the MapleLegends Staff's stance regarding any future ambiguous deals, such as leeching. Leeching is almost entirely the responsibility of you as a player. You must be very clear and specific regarding what you ask for, whether it be where the leeching takes place, the scheduling of the leeching, or any other conditions.

Here are a few helpful tips. When making a leech deal as a buyer/seller, please do the following:

  1. Always specify. If you ask for 5 hours of leeching, be sure that both the buyer and the seller understand and agree to the time frame in which this shall take place. For example, if you are a buyer and you want 5 hour leech on same day, be sure to make it clear to the seller that those are your conditions, and that he/she agrees to those conditions.
  2. Always take a screenshot of your agreed upon deal in case any problems and issues appear, such as scams. While the MapleLegends Staff will not active get involved in deals, we will enforce rule 3.2 of our Terms of Service and give punishments to players for scamming if clear evidence is provided that one of the parties is guilty.
  3. We highly recommend not making large deals. For example, if you 21 hours of leeching over the course of 7 days, we recommend paying on a per-session basis as opposed to all at once. For example, if the seller leeches you 3 hours a day, pay him/her for those 3 hours, over the course of the 7 days, as opposed to for 21 hours on the first or last day.

Clear communication, and evidence of an agreement is essential in these situations. Without evidence of specifics and an agreement, the MapleLegends Staff cannot do anything to help you. Thank you for understanding!

Website Updates

posted on 06-19

Hello Maplers,

A few minor changes have been made to the website:

  • You can now donate while in-game, just like you can via voting. Your account will be automatically credited the next time you enter the cash shop.
  • Temporary bans will now show under "my account" on the website, along with a ban reason and the date on which the ban will end.
  • You can no longer vote while your account is banned. Note that if you happened to get falsely banned, you may be reimbursed with vote cash due to the lost days of voting.

New MapleLegends Staff v.3

posted on 06-14

Hello Maplers,

After even more growth, with us hitting as many as 226 users online, we thought it would be a good time for some new staff additions and promotions to help with all of the new players. While we are currently not actively looking for any new staff anymore, our applications are always open, so feel free to apply if you are interested.

Congratulations on the Promotion...

Gi - Game Moderator: Gi has been providing excellent support to the MapleLegends Staff behind the scenes, even while still busy with his exams. He's well known for his project, Legendiary, but has also provided many great suggestions and feedback on how we can improve the server. He has also been a great member of the community and staff, catching hackers and helping out players both in-game and on the forum, so we believe that he will be able to do a great job as a full time game moderator.

SamVosh - Assistant Administrator: Sam has been here since the beginning of Open Beta and since then she has done a fantastic job with bug reporting, providing helpful suggestions, and just being a great person to talk to. As an intern and game moderator, she helped out on numerous tasks outside of her original responsibilities, including analyzing and fixing some bugs. A few weeks ago phnx, Navi and I were all unavailable, so there was nobody around to restart the servers in case of emergency. I passed my trust to Sam with her first administrative tasks, and as expected, she did it flawlessly. We believe that she'll be of great help to us and all of you going forward into the future!

Welcome to...

Bulba - Intern Game Moderator: Bulba has evolved into Ivysaur! Bulba was actually one of the first people to hear about the MapleLegends project back in last August, when I mentioned it to him. Over the next weeks and months I gave him progress updates and he was interested in helping us out, so he became one of the few Closed Beta testers, and was eventually also an Open Beta tester. He has helped us immensely from the very beginning with bug reports, feedback, and knowledge of the official servers. Aside from his contributions, he was also a friendly member of the community, and we know that he'll get along with everybody extremely well.

Reptar - Intern Game Moderator: Reptar has been a great member of the community, providing numerous bug reports and helpful suggestions. He also has extensive experience as a staff member on other games, and with his professional and fair demeanor, we believe that he'll do a fantastic job as a member of the staff! Reptar will be known as Gizmo.

Yell - Intern Game Moderator: The queen of snails! Yell has been a friendly face both in-game and on the forum since the server first opened. She has had experience on other MapleStory servers in the past and also has an impressive repertoire of abilities that we know will be useful in helping the server and all of you guys going forward. Her GM character is Yell.

Leaving us...

Jaikor: Even though this happened a while ago, after unfortunate events and conflicts, Jaikor is no longer part of the staff. Jaikor provided excellent support both in-game and on the forum. He made our lives a lot easier with all of the bugs he reported, hackers he caught, and players he helped. We know he made a lasting impression on many players, and lasting contributions to the server, so we would like to thank him for his contributions and wish him the best in the future.

Note: Please contact Navi or I if you take issue with one of our new staff members. I don't expect them to do anything wrong, but if something happens, please let Navi and I know and we'll take actions. We assure you that you will remain anonymous.

Congratulations and good luck to all of the new staff members!
